MCQUEEN

Alexander McQueen's fall/winter 2010 collection features incredibly beautiful imperial gowns and headdresses, in rich reds and golds. What a tragedy to have lost such an iconic British designer, who was never short on shock-tactics. I'm partial to the strikingly intricate Indian-inspired hair jewellery from the Fall 2008 line.

  1. I couldn't agree more, Astrid! His death makes an immense hole in the design world, let alone the fashion world. The 2010 collection is magnificent, but I'm glad you posted the photos of 2008 - I'm especially charmed by the butterfly headdress. (I'm wondering if it may have been an inspiration for Trelise's dragonfly headdresses that I photographed at NZ Fashion Week last month... If you would like a couple of photos for your blog, let me know - your Mum has my email :-)

  2. Yes his runway stuff was pretty outrageous, but some of the ready to wear items are rather beautiful. Some gorgeous stuff for Givenchy as well. Cool, a comparison between the two headdresses would be rad!

  3. Is there a video of a human being walking in the cloven hoof boots?

  4. This is Lady Gaga's video from 'Bad Romance' in which she models the space boots. I'm sure they've twisted many an ankle.
